Professional Experience

Palatine Primary School (Dec 2024 – Present)

SEN Teaching Assistant

Palatine School is a special needs school that provides education and support for students with various learning difficulties, including physical and emotional needs. As an SEN Teaching Assistant, my duties involve:

  • Supporting students in the classroom and assisting with their learning and development.
  • Helping with personal care tasks if needed.
  • Ensuring the safety and well-being of students during school activities.
  • This role requires adaptability, patience, and a commitment to fostering an inclusive and supportive educational environment.

The Clock Tower Sanctuary (Sep 2023 – Dec 2024)

Duty Coordinator

I began volunteering for The Clock Tower Sanctuary in 2021 when I first moved to Brighton, seeking to feel part of the local community. This initial involvement evolved into a staff role, where I gained invaluable experience working directly with clients, volunteers, and staff. My responsibilities included:

  • Catering clients’ needs through practical assistance like form filling or providing emotional support through one-to-one therapeutic conversations.
  • Acting as a point of contact and support for clients navigating challenging life situations.
  • This role allowed me to develop a deep understanding of client care, fostering a welcoming and safe space for vulnerable individuals.

The Clock Tower Sanctuary (Aug 2022 – Sep 2023)

Fundraising Officer (Maternity Cover)

As The Clock Tower Sanctuary is not statutory funded, securing funds is crucial for keeping the centre open and operational. In this role, I was responsible for:

  • Organizing and managing various fundraising events.
  • Liaising with community fundraisers and building relationships with donors.
  • Representing The Clock Tower Sanctuary at social events to raise awareness of the centre’s work and impact.
  • Utilizing different software platforms to streamline fundraising efforts.
  • This position honed my organizational and communication skills and ability to advocate effectively for a cause I am passionate about.

Richmond Barbers (Jan 2000 – Present)

Founder & Owner

At 19, I established Richmond Barbers, a barbershop that has since become a thriving local business. Over the years, I have:

  • Gained extensive experience in customer service, marketing, finance, and troubleshooting.
  • Managed all aspects of day-to-day operations, ensuring consistent quality and service.
  • Built and mentored a trusted team of 8 dedicated individuals who now manage the shop’s daily operations.
  • This entrepreneurial journey has given me the foundation to pursue future projects and expand my professional skill set. I have also maintained a thriving business for over 25 years.
